Apple required to give $15 or Bumper case to iPhone 4 buyers

People in the US who have bought the iPhone 4 will have to visit the website www.iPhone4Settlement.com (which isn’t working yet), where they will get more information on how they can claim their money or the free case. Apple will also be required to send a reminder email to its iPhone 4 customers before April 30.

As you may be aware, the whole Antennagate situation started with the launch of the iPhone 4 in 2010, where certain users noticed that covering the strip around the side of the phone during a call would result in drop in signal and eventually disconnection of the call. Apple eventually responded with a media event, where they offered to give free Bumper cases to iPhone 4 buyers but only till September 30, 2010. Following this, multiple lawsuits were filed against Apple regarding this situation, the result of which we are now seeing.

Thankfully for the users (and Apple), the iPhone 4S does not have any problem due to a reworked antenna system.

The machine, the client connects to a proxy server to get a service, whether a file or Web page, or access to a site or access to any source from any other server. It should be noted that the units of the proxy server that passes requests and responses it without change them often called the Gateway (and mean gate pass) or sometimes called a Tunneling Proxy (a proxy that works through a process of embedding secure using the SSL protocol between the computer and service units). Furthermore, the module can be installed a proxy server on the local computer of the user or elsewhere in the multi-user computer and the target service units or the Internet. Full Google Nexus One review

Here is review which I promised. It is almost in-depth review based on my use.

Google Nexus One

I am not the type of a person who likes to believe in rumors and believe cheap heresy, and more often than not I want the hardcore evidence; to scrutinize it, to browse through it and make my own conclusions.

Dell Mini 5 first look

We all knows people are crazy about big brand phones like Google Nexus One, HTC HD2, iPhone but Dell’s new Dell mini 5 is also too hot phone and take a look here for more information about this phone.

Need a reason to rethink your small smartphone screen? With more and more of the web being consumed on mobile devices (most of which are less than 4 inches), it’s true that we need something bigger in order to enjoy the web on the go (no pun intended).
Dell seems to have figured that it would be a good idea to stuff a 1GHz Snapdragon processor into an internet slab and stuff Android 1.6 as well as Wi-Fi, GPS and WCDMA radio. Was it? Well that’s yet to be decided as the device has not gone on sale yet but from our first impressions this thing is looking pretty darn awesome.

The only cellphone in recent times to have done something close to the Dell Mini 5 is the HTC HD2 which boasts a 4.3 inch screen. And even though both phones run a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, the underlining software is different.

Other than software and processor features the phone features 1.63GB internal storage as well as 405MB of RAM. The screen is capacitive (means stylis will not work) and the screen boasts 800 x 480 pixels of screen real-estate.

Dell Mini 5

It was first thought that the Dell Mini 5 was a tablet, but after further inspection, it has been proven that it is indeed a full-fledged cellphone. In fact, it runs on CDMA networks although it is yet to be confirmed whether or not a GSM version will be available by launch.

As mentioned before, the device sports Android 1.6 which is pretty old by todays standards and Dell has made it clear that when the device does launch later this year, a newer version of Android will be available. Performance wise, the Dell Mini 5 performs beautifully. Thanks to the 1GHz Snapdragon processors, apps load fast and surfing the web is very enjoyable thanks to the 5 inch screen. The onscreen keyboard however could use some work as it is a little buggy, but seeing this is a preproduction unit, we’re sure these are things that will be fixed by the launch time.

Of course, one of the biggest concerns with the device has been pocketability. We’re not dealing with an iPhone or even an HD2. Rather we’re dealing with a freaking 5 inch tablet. That said, we were surprised that it fit comfortable in most of our pockets. If you’re dealing with smaller pockets there might be a bit of an issue with fit but most pockets can more than adequately fit the device without creating an unattractive bulge.

So while it’s too early to make a final decision on the Dell Mini 5, we will say it’s a nice experiment and while not a radical rethinking of the smartphone form factor, it does address one of the major problems with smartphones these days, screen size. So with all sincerity, it’s nice to see something that bends the rules and succeeds at it so far.

CloudFTP. Wirelessly share ANY USB storage with iPad, iPhone

Since we have reached our minimum funding target, we will be starting production of the first batch of CloudFTP very soon. Rewards will be fulfilled on first come first serve basis, so pledge now if you want to be amongst the first to receive the CloudFTP.

Background

USB mass storage devices (USB hard drives, flash drives, card readers, digital cameras etc.) are one of most commonly used digital storage media. Yet it is almost impossible to connect a USB storage device to recent inventions like the iPad, iPhone or Cloud without much hassle and going through a computer.

The Solution

CloudFTP is a pocket size adapter that can turn any USB storage device into a wireless file server, sharing files with WiFi-enabled devices (iPad, iPhone, computer etc.). It can also automatically connect to the Internet to backup and synchronize your USB data with popular online Cloud storage services like iCloud, Dropbox and box.net.

How It Works?

CloudFTP features a powered USB port (just like on the computer) which connects and powers any USB mass storage device (USB hard drives, flash drives, card readers, digital cameras etc.)

Ad-hoc (peer-to-peer) mode

By default, CloudFTP creates its own (ad-hoc) wireless WiFi network to share the connected USB data. Users just need to join this network from their WiFi-enabled devices to access the USB storage device wirelessly by means of a HTML5 web app, dedicated iOS/Android app or FTP client. This network works independently of the Internet and other existing wireless networks.

Infrastructure (Internet) mode

Alternatively, CloudFTP can also join an existing (infrastructure) wireless WiFi network to share with devices on the same network. CloudFTP will automatically  connect to the Internet (if present) to backup/sync the USB data with popular online Cloud storage services like iCloud, Dropbox and box.net.

How are we going to do it?

Marrying our expertise in our earlier portable storage (HyperDrive) and power (HyperJuice) products, we developed a patent pending solution based on the high performance, energy efficient and cost effective ARM9 microprocessor, the same processor that is used in some of the most powerful mobile devices today. Our unique software drives the powerful processor that links up the USB connection to a fast wireless WiFi modem, all powered by an energy efficient power management system, in the tiniest possible product footprint.

The end result is a single, compact, portable, affordable plug-n-play solution that bridges USB storage and the wireless Cloud. Just plug the USB storage device into CloudFTP and the data will instantly be accessible wirelessly to the Cloud, iPad, iPhone and other WiFi-enabled devices.

How will the funds be used?

We plan to sell the CloudFTP at retail for $99.95. After all, products with similar but lesser components are selling for $89.95 http://beagleboard.org/bone.

However we decided to offer the CloudFTP to our Kickstarter backers for a very low price of $69 so that more people can enjoy what we believe is a really useful product. However to offer at such a low price, we need to achieve a critical volume at launch, hence the $100,000 funding goal. Yes the funding goal is high but our earlier products have sold for more in a shorter span of time, so we are confident of achieving this target.

We have already committed in designing the solution and making the working prototypes. Your funding will help make mass production of the CloudFTP and its offering at a low price a reality.

Our Progress So Far

We have since developed the first working prototype which we demonstrated the proof of concept in the video above. We are happy to announce that the first prototype and concept of CloudFTP has won this Kickstarter project the prestigious CES 2012 Design & Engineering Showcase Honors.

Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 32 product categories.

We are confident that this will be the first of many awards to come and with your support, CloudFTP will be our best product ever.

CloudFTP: The Missing Link Between USB Drives and iOS Devices

CloudFTP is a $100 gadget that addresses one of the most ubiquitous tech disconnects in recent memory: the lack of USB support on iPhones and iPads, which makes it a hassle to transfer data from a thumb drive to these popular devices.

Sure, you can use a PC as intermediary, but hooking up your iOS device just to transfer a few files seems like a lot of work for a pretty routine task–and a computer isn’t always handy when you need one. CloudFTP is small enough to carry in your pocket, and it’s a stand-alone solution that requires no additional hardware or network support.

You start by plugging the USB drive into the device. CloudFTP’s USB port is powered, so it can access any USB mass storage device. CloudFTP by default creates its own ad-hoc Wi-Fi network, so to access the data on the drive you simply join that network with your iOS device (or any other Wi-Fi enabled device). Now you can access the data on the USB drive, either by running an HTML5 Web app, a dedicated iOS or Android app, or a standard FTP client.

You can also connect CloudFTP to an existing Wi-Fi network, where it is accessible to other devices on the network. In this mode, it can use the network’s Internet connection to back up the data on the USB drive to cloud services such as iCloud, Dropbox or Box.net.

Powering the CloudFTP is an internal rechargeable battery that, according to developer Daniel Chin, will last for five hours between charges.

The story of CloudFTP’s development is as interesting as the device itself. Chin sought $100,000 in funding on Kickstarter–a site where entrepreneurs can seek financing for projects from grassroots investors–and at this writing had attracted more than $260,000 from more than 2700 individuals, who will get the first production units.

CloudFTP is for sale on its Kickstarter site, which says the investors will get their units in February.
